Strange Winter

We've had very little snowfall this season.

And the temps... well, we've had a few cold snaps - REALLY cold snaps.  But yesterday... it reached 50 degrees - and it's not the first time that has happened.

This time last year, the snow was piled 3 feet high on this deck!

What snow is left out there has turned to one giant sheet of ice from all the melting and refreezing.  We try to encourage the dogs to take it easy and not go zipping across it.

Presently, the flakes are falling soft, like feathers.

They won't stick.

It's still too early, but I feel like I should be looking for crocus.  Soon enough.

Kingston went with me to the produce stand last Friday.

He helped me gather this fruit and put it in our little basket (which he carried, of course).  At the check-out counter, he paid the cashier and took our change.

He's always eager to be helpful.
