The Pumpkin Heads

One of the little towns I travel through to get to work has a seasonal tradition.  Every year the residents and businesses decorate their yards along the main street with characters whose heads are always made from pumpkins.  It's quite charming, actually.

I've been passing through for 4 years now, and more and more folks seem to get involved with each passing year. Some of them are awfully creative.  I enjoy it when I see a new ones pop up.

Here are this year's offerings:

He's holding a camera... and you should see the view he's looking at!

 In front of the library...

In front of the church...

In front of the store...

I'm not a proponent of the ghost-y, ghoul-y part of Halloween, but don't see the harm at this time of year of dressing up in creative costumes and gathering to celebrate the harvest season.

The fun and camaraderie these neighbors have in participating together in the Pumpkin Heads presentations makes me smile.

Maybe they gave you some ideas for decorating your yards.
